The current European economic environment is dominated by neoliberal policies, inspired by neo-classical economics advocating the necessity of the global free market. Liberalization, privatization and minimal state interference in economic affairs are part of the neoliberal doctrine put forth by various local elites, measures that supposedly ensure prosperity and growth in the long run.
